Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

Overview of Services

The NMR Facility provides access to Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, NMR for the UC Merced Campus as well as other academic and external users. We also provide access to instruments for Liquid-Chromatography Mass Spec, LCMS, and for far-infrared Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, FTIR. The facility is located in the basement of Science and Engineering 2 in rooms 20 and 24. The NMR Systems in SE2-20 include 400 MHz Agilent MR400 and a 500 MHz Agilent Propulse instruments, each of which has 2-channels and is equipped with full automation and broadband automated tuning for 1H, 19F and 15N-31P. A third instrument is a Bruker 600 MHz Avance III equipped with an automated sample changer and a HCND Helium Cryoprobe. SE2-20 also contains a far-infrared Bruker Vertex 70 FTIR equipped with ATM and transmission accessories. The neighboring room SE2-24 contains a Thermo Exactive Plus LCMS. All instruments are open access for Self-use by all students and faculty with training. Consultation and training are available and users may have their samples run for them by special arrangement.
